Terms of Service

These Unlayered Universe Terms of Service (“Universe Terms”) apply when you activate, access, or use Unlayered Universe, including browsing, downloading, publishing, uploading, commenting, voting, maintaining a Universe profile, or otherwise using Universe features.

These Universe Terms supplement the Unlayered 3D Terms of Use. If these Universe Terms conflict with the general Terms of Use regarding Unlayered Universe, these Universe Terms control.

1. Eligibility and Acceptance

You must be at least 13 years old to activate or use Unlayered Universe. Users ages 13 through 17 may browse and download public content but may not upload, publish, comment, vote, or otherwise contribute public user-generated content.

You must be at least 18 years old to upload or publish Universe Content, comment, vote, or otherwise use creator/contributor features. By using a contributor feature, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18.

You may not misrepresent your age or circumvent age-based restrictions.

An Unlayered 3D account may originate through a hardware/customer relationship, software access, an application flow, or another Company service. Having such an account or profile record does not by itself activate Unlayered Universe, make your profile public on Universe, or enable Universe participation. Universe activation is a separate affirmative onboarding step and may require age/eligibility information and acceptance of these Universe Terms.

The first time you activate Unlayered Universe, you may be required to affirmatively accept these Universe Terms and acknowledge the applicable Privacy Policy. Uploads may require an additional affirmative certification and acceptance of the User Added Content Rules.

2. Universe Content

“Universe Content” includes models, 3MF files, G-code, STL files, STEP files, ZIP files, toolpaths, pre-sliced files, printer profiles, print settings, images, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, comments, source information, license information, metadata, and other material submitted or published through Unlayered Universe.

You retain ownership of intellectual-property rights you hold in your original Universe Content. The rights you grant to other users and to Unlayered 3D are separate from your ownership.

3. Rights You Grant to Other Users

When you publish Universe Content, you may be required or permitted to select a public content license. The selected license displayed with the listing governs the rights that other users receive from you, subject to the terms of that license.

You are solely responsible for selecting an appropriate license and for ensuring that you have authority to offer the content under that license. Some public licenses, including certain Creative Commons licenses, may be irrevocable once granted to a recipient who complies with the license.

Unlayered 3D does not grant other users rights in your content beyond the rights you selected or otherwise expressly made available.

4. Rights You Grant to Unlayered 3D

By uploading or publishing Universe Content, you grant Unlayered 3D a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to host, store, cache, reproduce, format, convert, transmit, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, index, analyze, annotate, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, and otherwise use Universe Content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, promote, develop, and improve Unlayered Universe and other Company products and services.

This license includes the right to use employees, contractors, affiliates, infrastructure providers, research partners, and other service providers acting on the Company’s behalf.

5. AI, CAD, Software, Manufacturing, and Hardware Development

By uploading or publishing Universe Content, you specifically authorize Unlayered 3D to use, reproduce, analyze, annotate, transform, combine, test, print, manufacture from, measure, and derive information from Universe Content and from physical prints, print results, toolpaths, measurements, failures, successes, test data, and other materials resulting from use of Universe Content for the purpose of:

  • researching, developing, training, fine-tuning, testing, evaluating, validating, and improving artificial-intelligence and machine-learning systems;
  • developing and improving CAD and related systems;
  • developing and improving slicing, software, manufacturing, and related systems;
  • developing, testing, validating, and improving Company hardware and related products; and
  • developing and commercializing related products, models, datasets, services, and technologies.

These rights include creating features, embeddings, labels, annotations, measurements, statistics, synthetic or transformed representations, aggregated datasets, transformed datasets, evaluation sets, benchmarks, and other derived materials.

Unlayered 3D may commercialize Company products and trained models created using these rights and may license, sell, or otherwise commercialize aggregated, transformed, annotated, or other derived datasets and materials to third parties, including developers of AI, CAD, design, manufacturing, and engineering systems.

Except as expressly disclosed or separately agreed, Unlayered 3D does not sell or license a user’s identifiable raw account information, private messages, or identifiable raw submissions as a standalone personal-data product. This limitation does not restrict public access to Universe Content under the public license selected by the uploader or the Company’s rights in trained models, derived datasets, analytics, print-test results, or other derived materials.

6. Marketing and Promotion

You grant Unlayered 3D the right to use, reproduce, display, photograph, record, publish, distribute, and otherwise use Universe Content and physical prints or other materials created from Universe Content for Company marketing, advertising, sales, investor, educational, trade-show, social-media, website, demonstration, and public-relations purposes.

Where reasonably practicable, the Company will provide attribution using the creator name or username associated with the applicable Universe Content. The Company is not required to provide attribution where doing so is impracticable, technically infeasible, or inconsistent with the format or context of the use.

7. Effect of Deleting Content

If you delete Universe Content or the Company removes it, the Company may stop new public display of that content within a reasonable period, subject to technical limitations, backups, legal obligations, and copies previously downloaded by other users.

Deletion does not revoke rights already granted to other users under an irrevocable public license. It also does not require the Company to delete or unwind trained models, software or hardware improvements, analyses, annotations, test results, derived datasets, aggregate statistics, marketing materials already created, physical prints, or other derived materials created or obtained while the Company was authorized to use the content. The licenses necessary to retain and use those materials survive deletion to the extent permitted by law.

8. Your Representations and Responsibilities

By uploading or publishing Universe Content, you represent and warrant that:

  • you are at least 18 years old;
  • you own the content or have all permissions and licenses necessary to upload it, publish it, grant the selected public license, and grant the Company all rights described in these Universe Terms;
  • the content does not infringe or misappropriate another person’s intellectual-property, confidentiality, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • the content is not subject to an agreement or duty that prohibits the uses authorized by these Universe Terms;
  • you will not upload confidential, classified, export-controlled, controlled technical data, or restricted third-party material unless you are authorized to disclose it and the Service is expressly approved by the Company for that use; and
  • the content complies with the User Added Content Rules and applicable law.

If you are not the original creator, attribution or source credit by itself is not sufficient. The underlying license or permission must allow you to grant the Company the rights required by these Universe Terms, including the applicable commercial research, development, AI/CAD, hardware, dataset, and marketing rights.

9. File Safety and Metadata

Universe files are user-generated and may not be inspected or tested before publication. Model and print files may contain embedded metadata, printer profiles, slicer settings, machine information, or other data. You are responsible for reviewing and removing information you do not intend to publish.

You are also responsible for independently reviewing downloaded files before use. Unlayered 3D does not guarantee that a file will print successfully, remain within machine limits, avoid collisions, use safe temperatures or motion, be compatible with your machine, or be suitable for any particular purpose.

10. Prohibited Content

Universe Content must comply with the User Added Content Rules, which are incorporated into these Universe Terms. Among other restrictions, Universe does not permit content related to functional weapons, firearms, explosives, weapon modification, NSFW/sexually explicit material, illegal-drug use or paraphernalia, infringement, malicious files, or other prohibited material described in those Rules.

11. Prohibited Scraping and Automated Use

Except with prior written authorization from Unlayered 3D, you may not use automated or systematic means to collect Universe models, files, images, metadata, comments, profiles, or other content for commercial use; AI or machine-learning training, fine-tuning, evaluation, benchmarking, or model development; dataset creation; bulk redistribution; or development of a competing repository or service.

You may not circumvent rate limits, access controls, authentication, geographic restrictions, robots.txt, anti-bot measures, signed file URLs, or other technical restrictions.

Ordinary public search-engine indexing of public webpages is permitted in accordance with robots.txt and other technical instructions, but does not authorize bulk file downloading or AI/dataset harvesting.

12. Moderation and Removal

Unlayered 3D may review, automatically screen, manually moderate, remove, restrict, relabel, disable, demonetize if applicable, or block access to Universe Content or accounts at any time, with or without notice, and is not required to provide a reason.

The Company may use technical measures to prevent re-upload of removed content, restrict posting privileges, suspend accounts, or report content or conduct to authorities or rightsholders where appropriate.

13. Copyright and Intellectual Property

If you believe content infringes your copyright or other intellectual-property rights, use the process described in the Company’s Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. The Company may terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

14. No Endorsement; No Warranty

Universe Content is user-generated. The Company does not endorse or warrant its accuracy, safety, legality, quality, licensing status, printability, compatibility, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Your download, manufacture, printing, possession, and use of Universe Content are at your own risk and remain subject to applicable law and the selected public license.

15. Changes to Universe

The Company may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue Universe features, file formats, licenses offered to uploaders, geographic availability, moderation systems, or other aspects of the Service at any time.
