Choosing a slicer for your Bambu Lab printer
Bambu Studio is the default; OrcaSlicer is the common Bambu Studio alternative for more tuning. Unlayered Slicer, an OrcaSlicer fork, adds non-planar slicing for stronger parts, wave overhangs and fewer AMS filament swaps on the X1C, P1S, P2S, A1 and A1 Mini. Wireless printing isn't supported yet: export the file and print from microSD.
Fewer swaps on AMS prints
Every AMS color change retracts the old filament, loads the new one, and flushes until the color runs clean. A tall print that changes color every layer can put more filament in the purge chute than in the part. Lower flush volumes cut the cost per swap; Unlayered Slicer cuts the number of swaps by printing in planes. A swap that never happens needs no purge.
Overhangs without supports
Supports are filament printed only to be thrown away. Wave overhangs grow a flat overhang outward from its supported edge, so 90° overhangs print without them. How wave overhangs work.
Printing from Unlayered Slicer
Export the sliced file and print from the printer's microSD card. If you rely on Wi-Fi or Bambu Cloud, keep Bambu Studio for those jobs.
Supported models
OrcaSlicer's Bambu Lab profiles are included: X1C, P1S, P2S, A1, A1 Mini and any other Bambu model OrcaSlicer supports.
